Sacred Transitions: The Wisdom in Every Life Season

Welcome, love. If you're navigating change right now—whether it's gentle or seismic—know that you're not alone. In this post, I’m exploring the sacredness woven into life’s many transitions. From the deep shifts of pregnancy to the monthly rhythms of our menstrual cycles, there’s wisdom waiting for us in each season… if we’re willing to pause and listen.

Living in Seasons and Cycles

As I write this, I’m 34 weeks pregnant—deep in the sacred rite of passage that is growing life. But even before this, I began to deeply tune into the seasons of my life through my menstrual cycle. That awareness came after facing some health challenges, and it opened a whole new relationship with my body.

It’s become so clear: our lives move in cycles. The highs and lows. The stretches and stillness. It’s not linear, and it’s certainly not about control. The impermanence of life is a truth echoed in ancient traditions, like yoga and Buddhism. And yet in modern Western culture, we’re conditioned to resist that—clinging to predictability and safety instead of flow.

But what if we stopped resisting, and instead welcomed the waves?

Surrendering to the Sacred Unknown

Transition requires surrender. Whether you're stepping into motherhood, moving through burnout, navigating a shift in your relationship, or simply feeling the quiet urge that something in your life needs to change—there's always a death of the old to make space for the new.

I’ve been stretched emotionally, physically, and spiritually during this pregnancy. There have been moments of stress and shadows, but also joy and spaciousness. What’s helped me is the deepening trust in my body and my inner knowing, cultivated through embodiment practices.

It’s not just about pregnancy though. Think about how you relate to your menstrual cycle, your relationships, your job, or your body. These are all sacred invitations to evolve, even if they come with discomfort.

Burnout and the Cost of Disconnection

Years ago, I was a single mum working long hours in a job that drained me. On paper, I was doing well—but inside, I felt disconnected and burnt out. The pandemic gave me a pause I didn’t know I needed. It made me question everything: Why am I doing this? What actually matters?

That moment marked a turning point where I chose to stop sacrificing connection—for myself, my son, or my truth. I left the job, embraced a simpler life, and began aligning with a path that felt nourishing instead of depleting.

Letting go of "safety" can be terrifying. But I learned that safety isn’t always in the job, the paycheck, or the plan. Sometimes, it’s in trusting yourself—and that’s something no external structure can give you.

Wild Trust and Radical Responsibility

This pregnancy has also been a journey into radical self-responsibility. I made the decision to have what some would call a “wild pregnancy,” stepping away from the medical system from 20 weeks onward. That choice wasn’t made from rebellion—but from deep trust in my body and my baby.

It’s not for everyone. But for me, it’s been empowering and liberating. I've learned more about birth, pregnancy, and myself than I ever would have otherwise. The real magic here is in trusting your intuition and taking full responsibility for your choices. That is what sovereignty looks like.

The Feminine Flow of Embodied Living

So how do we navigate these sacred transitions with more ease and grace? How do we stop gripping so tightly and start flowing with life?

The answer for me has been embodiment. When we build safety in the body—somatically, not just mentally—we create capacity to hold discomfort, move through change, and find our truth within the unknown.

Embodiment isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence. It’s about grounding into your body as home, especially when everything else feels in flux. You can have a taster of my embodied meditations for reconnecting and resource here Embodied Meditations

Practices to Honour Your Seasons

Here are a few practices I’ve found powerful for tuning into your own sacred transitions:

1. Journaling Your Emotional Waves

Writing down your raw feelings can be deeply healing. Date your entries. Later, you’ll be able to look back and witness your evolution. You’ll see how you moved through emotions you once thought were permanent.

2. Tracking Your Menstrual or Moon Cycle

Whether you menstruate or not, you can work with cyclical awareness. Notice emotional, energetic, and physical patterns. What do you need during each phase? This helps you resource yourself better and build compassion for your process.

3. Listening to Your Body

Pause. Breathe. Place a hand on your heart or womb. Ask, What do I need today? This tiny moment of presence can shift everything.

4. Reframing Challenges as Sacred

The next time you're in a transition, instead of resisting it, ask: What wisdom is this offering me? What part of me is ready to evolve? Even if it doesn’t make sense yet—trust that clarity will come.

Final Thoughts: Thriving Through Trust

We often fear change because we associate it with loss of control. But clinging to what no longer fits us is the real threat to our aliveness. Sacred transitions call us to step into the unknown, yes—but they also invite us to grow, expand, and rise.

I believe this is how we begin to thrive. Not by perfecting life, but by being in relationship with its rhythms—and with ourselves.
